High Definition Commercial

This week I'm getting ready for a new TV commercial.
A large chain supermarket is creating a campaign and I am styling
the assorted shots of meats, fish, produce, sushi, gelato + beers!
Should be fun.
A prep day is included to buy last minute items we will need.
This will be shot in High Definition and that means ALL details will be seen + noticed.
I'll post some freeze frames from the shoot when available.

Cinnamon Loaf

Woke up this morning and baked a cinnamon loaf
from scratch. I love the way the house smells when this is in the oven.

Just Desserts

Teeny ice creamed desserts.
I mixed them up a bit
with shaved chocolate, walnuts and sugar cones.

Wrath of grapes

Beautiful grapes just right for a summer night.

Sicilian Chicken

Blue bowl of Spätzle

Simple blue bowl with Spätzle
(german noodles)

German Beef Wheels "Roladen"

This meal is called Roladen.
I arranged the wedges of meats on a bed of farmer type "Spätzle".
German noodles longer than the traditional length.
The custom sliced carrots sit beside the Roladen adding fun color and taste!
This is one one of my families favorite meals.

What's Up Doc?

Each sliver of carrot was carefully sliced by hand.
A grater would have made them too uniform.

Lime Drink Lemon Rind

Slushi Lime Ice Mix wedged between 2 layers of secret vanilla cream.
Sprinkled lemon rind for a zesty kick-off!

Tools of the Trade

Went to the Art Store and purchased sculpting tools for shaping
my desserts.
Bought some great brushes and papers for textural bases in my photos.
So many different techniques when styling what looks like a simple shot.

Cheesecake Returns

Slice of cheescake.
Several raspberries and a touch of coffee powder on the dollop.
A trail of chocolate syrup for another hit of flavor.

Bar-B-Q Chicken

Grilled chicken bathed in a BarBQ sauce.
Placed in this cute decorative dish after the fire
to keep it tender.

Morning Coffee

Need that cup of coffee.
Three sugar cubes stacked besides the cup.
I loved the different whites in this piece.

Euro Snack

Summer afternoon.
This was inspired by my visits to Germany.
Small dish with fresh cheese and breads.
Much better than Ring-Dings® Crumbs add a casual feel on the plate.

Online Course

I recently enrolled in a "Food Styling 101" class
to see what it was like and what the instructor would do as a virtual teacher.
Curiosity got the best of me and I am on week 2 of the 4 week program.
Having fun comparing my work to the other students.

Balancing the assignments with my day to day workload is the real challenge.

Not so Corny

The corn was so yellow.
A pad of butter and cool stainless tongs.
I loved this simple set up.

Pear Salad

Walnuts the size of a volkswagon.
Thinly sliced pears fanned out on top
with slices of parmesan cheese.

Fresh Green Country Salad

Fresh Greens, cherry tomatoes and vinaigrette
laid out in a simple fashion.

Desserts for the weary!

A simple garnish of a rasberry with a dash of chocolate and a cherry flavored zigzag
